Videocartography at the Skiff

On Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 8.00 until 9.00 pm I will be talking about Videocartography and about the Video Art Mapping residency that I am developing at the Phoenix Brighton.

Here is a little some extra info about the talk:

One of the main attributes of the social web is that allows the user to take part in the contents creation and distribution. If one the one hand Youtube has been of utter relevance in our way to think about the audiovisual media, Google Maps has done the same thing in relation to our processes of reference and creation of online maps.

It is from the integration between both new proposals where arises another approach to represent cities: travelling through interactive maps in which we gain access to videos created by the own citizens. And even though this videos provide the traditional map aim, that of representing the territory, it also add a extra-dimension to the cartographical one encouraging new dialogues not only with the city itself but with other texts and users.

Time: 8:00pm – 9:30pm
Location: The Skiff
Street: 49 Cheltenham Place
City/Town: Brighton, United Kingdom
